[ED-TECH] Was this "Runes" post too risky?

Dear friends,

I wrote a blog post over the weekend, "I Cast the Runes Today for My Retirement." So some people privately counseled me that I might have included a "trigger warning" notice. Talking about casting runes and horoscopes is not something that is done by someone with an educated mind with a scientific background. I hope that I explained, and demonstrated, how I use runes to help me see a situation from a different perspective and discover things in it that I have been missing. But I would love some feedback on what you think. Should I have kept this to myself, or was sharing it appropriate and perhaps helpful? Let me know, please.

I Cast the Runes Today for My Retirement - I cast the runes today to help me reflect on my upcoming retirement from the University of Miami. Casting the runes helps me see or... https://vilberg.com/post/171740614890/i-cast-the-runes-today-for-my-retirement

[ED-TECH] Use Pulse Secure to access UM computer desktops from off campus

Do you connect to a computer desktop at UM from a computer at home or otherwise off-campus? Perhaps you use Microsoft Remote Desktop, or Chrome Remote Desktop, or Apple Remote Desktop (Back to My Mac). If so, install and use the Pulse Secure application before making your connection from off-campus. On Thursday, March 15, 2018, around 6 pm, direct access will be blocked and only access over Pulse Secure will be allowed. Pulse Secure is available for most operating systems including mobile. Go to http://miami.edu/vpn for details on the Pulse Secure virtual private network software that UM uses.

EXAMPLE: If a faculty member is currently connecting from a home computer to a desktop computer in the office at UM using Chrome Remote Desktop, all that is needed is Chrome Remote Desktop on the home computer and on the desktop computer in the office at UM. After the change in our network, Chrome Remote Desktop will be blocked. To get it to work again, install the Pulse Secure application on the home computer (see http://miami.edu/vpn for details) and use it to connect to UM, logging in with CaneID credentials. Then run Chrome Remote Desktop on the home computer and it should be able to make a successful connection.

An official notice will be sent out from UMIT. This is my understanding of what is happening. I apologize in advance if anything is incorrect. I will be glad to answer any questions I can or get answers to questions I can't handle myself.

Have a great spring break!
