[ED-TECH] Copyright and Fun Friday THIS WEEK 9/26

I made a mistake in the previous announcement.  Both the Copyright and Fun Friday sessions are THIS FRIDAY, September 26th, not the 16th as listed previously.

I hope those of you who were unable to travel to the past will now be able to take part.  J

[ED-TECH] Copyright/Fair Use - Fun Friday

Two sessions scheduled for this Friday might interest you. To register, please go to http://www.miami.edu/iac and click on the “Events” link.

Copyright in the classroom: Balancing the fair use factors

Scott Britton, Richter Library

Friday, September 16, 2008, 12:20 pm – 1:10 pm

Memorial Classroom Building, Room 201

Lunch will be provided

Scott Britton, Assoc. Prof. In the Library, will be doing this session on Copyright and fair use.  It will be highly interactive, taking cases and discussing the issues surrounding them.  As we increasingly distribute information via the web, it is important that all teachers refresh their understanding of this important issue.  Technically you may know HOW to put information on the web and in your Blackboard site. Legally SHOULD you do it?

Fun Friday #8

Friday, September 16, 2008, 2:30 pm – 3:20 pm

Memorial Classroom Bldg, Room 313

Fun Friday is our monthly gathering to talk about technology. This month the main presentation will be the Pulse SmartPen. It records audio while taking notes, and then puts the audio and notes together for replay. It was just featured in Tech Tuesday in the Miami Herald. You can go to http://www.miamiherald.com/business/story/697282.html for the print version and http://tinyurl.com/3t5plm for the video presentation. Sample “pencasts” can be found at http://tinyurl.com/3kfza7 and lots of information is available at http://livescribe.com. You can see it on the computer, you can buy it at Target, but if you want to test it out, come to Fun Friday.

To register for either or both sessions, please go to http://www.miami.edu/iac and click on the “Events” link.  Please share these opportunities with others
