January 18, 2013 2:00-3:00 pm ET - free to all. Register in advance
Presenters: Steve Benton, Senior Researcher the Idea Center
How do students see instruction? What do students say about what helps them learn in face to face and online environments. This presentation will summarize research based on a nationally available student ratings instrument. Using data collected through online surveys between 2002 and 2008, 5,272 on campus classes from 38 institutions will be compared with 13,416 online courses from 67 institutions.
Participants will learn about specific teaching methods and approaches that facilitate student progress on specific learning objectives in traditional and online environments regarding teaching methods, student learning, and student characteristics. A number of key questions important for faculty development and evaluation will be addressed.
