Ed-Tech list members,
Much of what our students do can be viewed as story telling. (I am talking about the learning process, not just creating excuses.) One of the things UM will be working on in the coming years is finding ways for students to use “New Media” to demonstrate their learning. Digital story telling is one of those ways. Instead of having them write a paper, have them create a digital story.
Because most of us are not trained in this area, we will be looking for material and providing learning opportunities. I just came across an excellent article that points out some of the main things to consider with digital story telling. It can be found at on the http://www.TechLearning.com site or by going directly to the http://tinyurl.com/yv5sk4 site.
You might find this valuable for your own use as you develop material that you use in class. This is primarily a K-12 site, but much of the material applies to what we do in higher education, as well.
