[ED-TECH] iPad Exploratin session, Friday, 2:30 pm

I am excited about the first iPad Exploration session this Friday. I know a large number of you have iPads and might like to learn more about how to use them and what others are doing with them. Here is the plan for the session, to give you an idea of what to expect. Everyone from a complete novice to an experienced user should find something of value.

1. We will explore some of the BASIC USAGE of the iPad. For example, we will cover how to capture a picture of what is on the screen and how to force the iPad to shut down and restart.

2. We will cover one BUILT-IN APP, the Safari web browser, and explore both it's standard operation and some clever things like how to save web sites to the iPad's home screen.

3. Finally, we will explore one OTHER APP, that is not part of the default set, iBooks, and show how to read books, change fonts, and load PDF documents, such as the UM Academic Calendars, so that they are always available to you.

The session is scheduled for this Friday, March 2, 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm, in the University Center, Flamingo Ballroom. It is open to everyone, students, faculty, and staff, since we can all learn from each other. To register, please go to iacevents.org and click on the title of the session, "iPad Exploration," to access to registration form. That will give us an idea of how many people to expect.

If you don't have an iPad (yet) you are certainly welcome to attend and see what the fuss is already about. In a QuickPoll last fall, 20% of the respondents said they already had one, and that was before the holiday gift-giving season.
